Welcome to the North Carolina State University
University Faculty Awards 2013-2014
During the months of September and October, NC State students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to nominate professors for university teaching awards via a nomination form, or by submitting a nomination to the College Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. (Check your college’s nomination deadline, as it may not be the same as the nomination package deadline). Faculty members can be recommended for the Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Teaching, membership in NC State’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers, and for positions as Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professors.
Nominations for the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence and the O. Max Gardner Award may be submitted by anyone at any time during the year. However, nominations for the current year must be submitted by the deadline stated below.
The Provost’s Memorandum For University Awards Selection Process includes each college’s due date for submissions for the Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award, Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Outstanding Teacher Award, the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence and the O. Max Gardner Award.
Please note that these dates vary. See deadlines for nomination packages below.
Each college has a committee that reviews submitted nominees as well as nominees sent directly to the colleges. Their ensuing selections are submitted to the Office of Faculty Development (OFD) for distribution to the university award selection committees.
Nominees for Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in Teaching, Outstanding Teacher Award, and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award are submitted to OFD by the academic colleges.
After eligibility is determined, a committee for the Board of Governors’ Award and a committee for both Outstanding Teacher and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor meet to discuss and select nominees. Results are then shared with the Provost.
The Holladay Medal and the O. Max Gardner Award submission packets must be submitted to the OFD by the deadline stated below to be considered in the current year pool. Committee for each award meet to discuss and select nominees.
