Outstanding Teacher Award

The Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes excellence in teaching at all levels. Faculty must be recognized as an Outstanding Teacher before they can receive the Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Alumni Distinguished Professor Award.

Upon being selected as an Outstanding Teacher, recipients become members of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers for as long as they are NC State faculty. Recognition is given at commencement, Celebration of Academic Excellence, and the Teaching and Learning Symposium.

NC State students and faculty are encouraged to recommend one or more current or former professors for recognition as a recipient as a member of NC State’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers. This is done by submitting names to the colleges, or by using the online form for the nomination of teachers. We will collect these online submissions and forward to the appropriate colleges.
