The What the Best NC State Teachers Do Video Series was started in 2010 to highlight teaching strategies that successful professors use in their classrooms.  The project is based on What the Best College Teachers Do, a book by Ken Baines that OFD used in reading circles in Spring 2010.

Dr. Rupert W. Nacoste has been on the North Carolina State University faculty since 1988. From September, 2000 through August, 2002, Dr. Nacoste served as North Carolina State University’s first Vice Provost for Diversity and African American Affairs.

After serving in the enlisted ranks of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Nacoste received his B. A. degree from the University of Florida. He went on to obtain his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A native of Louisiana, Dr. Nacoste is always on the look out for a place to have a bowl of good gumbo.  When that search fails, he makes his own.
